The Mane denim skirt is a staple basic of the Hoalen range. Made in a very resistant Japanese selvedge canvas, this unique and durable skirt will skate over the years. Three front pockets, zip fly, two back pockets, leather "Hoalen" patch sewn on the back of the belt. Hoalen, for its brand new version of the Mane skirt, uses a Japanese denim manufacturer, expert in selvedge denim fabric. The word "selvedge" is the contraction of the expression "self-finished edge", which literally means "border finished on itself". A selvedge canvas therefore designates a canvas with a finished border, as opposed to an unfinished border therefore, on which the canvas is unraveling. And it is this border that forms the famous "selvedge border". The selvedge designates above all a quality of high-end denim because thicker, woven more slowly with old looms which create variations, imperfections which make the charm of this material and bring it its unique side. Historically created for work clothing, selvedge denim canvas offers superior resistance to impact and friction induced by difficult conditions. After the First World War, large American fabric factories faced an increasing demand for denim clothing. They had to gradually abandon their old machines for new ones, producing lower quality fabric but in twice the quantity (especially in width). During the glorious thirty years, large-scale industrial production took precedence over the production of selvedge denim. The less solid fabrics with synthetic colors washed out with pumice stone got the better of these fabrics dyed with natural indigo. The jeans in selvedge denim, a fabric already longer to produce, which required more meters of fabric was then abandoned. It reappeared in the 1980s, when the first Japanese imported old looms from the United States, and produced their own fabric. The major advantage of selvedge denim remains the much tighter weaving, much denser than generic denim, giving it a much more rigid feel at first which will soften over time but also a much more beautiful appearance. Not only are Japanese jeans incredibly durable, but the handmade indigo dyeing process ensures you keep those pretty indigo blues for longer. While some people appreciate the speed at which jeans fade and tear over time, lovers of quality and durable clothing will instead turn to Japanese denim. By fading, the indigo will leave traces of wear, which will make the Mane skirt an almost organic piece that reflects the use of each. Her scars will make her unique and somehow tell her own story.
