FRENCH SURFING PIONEER

Francois-Xavier Maurin is one of the first surfers of the Basque Country. He still remembers a time when he could share the mythical waves of Parlementia and Lafitinia with his friends. Born in 1953 in Guéthary, he started surfing at the age of 12.

Actor of the revival of the Longboard in the 80s with his friend Nat Young, he leads a movement of passionate seduced by the image conveyed by the discipline.
He became junior surfing champion in 1970 and placed in the top 10 of the ASP Longboard World Championship from 1988 to 1993.

Francois-Xavier is able to evolve in all dimensions of the ocean, by varying the supports. A true water man, he has built his life between work, travel and his passion. A conductor and several times winner of the "Hoalen Fathers and Sons", we are proud to count Francois-Xavier among our community of ambassadors.
