For this Karris overshirt, Hoalen uses one of the world's most sought-after woollen fabrics, Harris Tweed®, produced in the Scottish archipelago of the Outer Hebrides on the famous island with two names, Harris & Lewis.
Harris Tweed® is a traditional ancestral fabric made from virgin wool, mainly from herds raised on the Scottish mainland, which is transported to the island's spinning mills, washed and dyed in an infinite palette of colors using a unique process unique to Harris Tweed®. The colored wools are then blended according to a secret recipe, carded and spun locally. As all Harris Tweed® products must, by law, be woven by hand on a treadle loom, the bobbins are delivered to island weavers who produce the fabric ordered, following the factory's instructions.
The nobility of the raw material and the know-how of each of the players in this ancestral manufacturing process make Harris Tweed® a fabric with astonishing properties: it is particularly warm, breathable, hard-wearing and virtually waterproof. It clearly has a singular traditional charm, which Hoalen's two-tone houndstooth pattern brings to life.
Hoalen has lined this Karris overshirt with lightweight synthetic quilting to keep the garment warm, and a synthetic lining whose ribstop structure ensures breathability and extreme resistance.
