Since its creation in 2006, Hoalen has focused on designing and manufacturing garments for life on the coast. The climatic conditions encountered there are variable, even capricious. Hence the importance of designing robust, versatile products that can adapt to these rapid changes.

History

The result of continuous improvement of Hoalen Explore® technical products, the Dexter 5 retains the fundamentals of previous models, while being lighter, more breathable and more practical. The Dexter 5's enhanced performance is due in no small part to the technical materials supplied by British Millerain, a company founded in Yorkshire in 1880. A specialist in the development of water-repellent materials, British Millerain is historically renowned for the quality and durability of its fabrics, which were originally used by fishermen on the small trawlers of the English coast.

Water-repellent

For its fifth version of the Dexter jacket, Hoalen has chosen a fabric “Cedar 360” developed by British Millerain. This cotton, coated with a unique blend of waxes, has a drier, softer feel than traditional waxed cotton. This lightweight fabric is a modern take on the fabrics used by fishermen of yesteryear. Easy to care for, it retains its water-repellent properties over time.

Resistant

The Dexter 5's fabric is of “ripstop” construction. Its grid structure helps prevent the extension of a tear in the event of a snag. This technical fabric combines the comfort of a light fabric (100 gsm) with the resistance of a much thicker fabric.

Breathable

As well as being hard-wearing, the outer fabric of the Dexter 5 has excellent breathability qualities, i.e. the ability to wick away moisture caused by perspiration, thus avoiding any unpleasant sensation of dampness.

Warm

To ensure good thermal insulation, Hoalen has filled this Dexter 5 with synthetic wadding made in Portugal, density 120 gsm. This synthetic thermal insulation is particularly warm given its light weight. The reinforced fabric lining is ultra-light (50gsm). The addition of invisible cotton cuffs contributes to its optimal insulation from the cold.

Versatile

Thanks to its technical qualities and light weight, the Dexter 5 can be adapted to a wide range of outdoor situations and activities. It can be worn over a simple tee-shirt for its windproofness, in wet weather for its water repellency, and in cold weather for its thermal qualities. With its side pockets, chest pocket and zipped inside pocket, you'll also be able to stash everything you need for the day.

Easy care

The waxed finish fabric developed by British Millerain also has the advantage of being machine washable. Quite an advantage for a jacket designed to accompany you wherever you go, whatever the weather, whatever your outdoor activities.
